SUMMARY:The Use of Automation in Infection Prevention & Control Programs: Time-Saving Strategies for Early Detection and Reporting
DESCRIPTION:As we continue to see outbreaks related to COVID–19 and infection control deficiencies remain among the most frequently cited\, the need to improve our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) programs remain crucial. Recently updated guidance by CMS highlights the focus on Antibiotic Stewardship programs and the signifying role of Infection Preventionists (IP). With clinical teams stretched beyond their limits\, successful facilities are leaning on technology to automate their IPC efforts\, analyze evolving symptomatology\, and reduce overall antibiotic-resistance cases. \nPreventing the spread of infectious disease through early detection is key to any IPC program. During this presentation\, we’ll explore how technology can support a clinician’s efforts of active infection prevention surveillance by utilizing live EHR data to highlight changes in condition and alert to early signs and symptoms of potential infection. We will also discuss how\, through technology\, IP’s can leverage live data analytics to assist in improving resident outcomes\, strengthen IPC programs\, and better prepare and improve survey outcomes\, while reducing the risk of hospitalizations related to healthcare associated infections (HAIs). \nLearning Objectives\n\nRecognize the role technology plays in IPC efforts\nLearn how to obtain early warning signs of infectious disease (days in advance of a potential outbreak) and time-saving IPC reporting techniques\nUnderstand how to formulate a centralized monitoring system to aid in identifying and monitoring infection trends\n\nSpeaker:\n\nCheryl Scalzo\, RN\, Clinical Account Specialist\, Real Time Medical Systems\n\nThis live webinar is presented by the Pennsylvania Health Care Association.
