Joan P. Neuscheler, CEO
Joan has more than 25 years of experience as a healthcare industry executive in operations and financial management, private equity investment, fundraising, and strategic guidance. Joan also serves as CFO of Five Star Physician Services, LLC, a post-acute and long-term care medical practice and management company and Founder/Partner of Aura Equity Partners, LLC, a healthcare advisory firm. Prior to forming Aura Equity Partners, Joan spent 19 years as a General Partner of multiple healthcare venture capital (VC) funds. Joan also served as President and CFO of the VC management company. During this time, Joan led multiple investments in over fifteen portfolio companies through various stages of development, including start-ups and mature companies, guiding companies through mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, and business turnarounds. She also provided operational, financial, and strategic planning advice to achieve successful financings and exits.
Joan’s board and investment experience includes: Adams Respiratory Therapeutics, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company that developed the Mucinex® brand; Quadramed, Inc., offering software and service solutions for healthcare enterprises; and IntelliClaim, Inc., a company delivering claims performance improvement, regulatory compliance services and IT products to healthcare payers.
Joan currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Real Time Medical Systems, LLC, Five Star Physician Services, LLC; Provider Partners Health Plan, Inc., a Medicare Advantage HMO plan for long-term care residents and Trophikos, Inc., a clinically supported nutritional supplement company.
Joan earned a BBA and MBA from Pace University.
Ellsworth Harris, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer
Prior to joining Real Time Medical Systems, El served as Vice President of Business Development at Five Star Physician Services, LLC, responsible for developing and maintaining business relationships in the long-term care industry. [read more]
As one of the founders and former President of PrevMed, a provider of portable dentistry, audiology, podiatry and vision services to nursing homes, El led the team in growing its business from a startup in 2007 to serving almost 400 nursing homes in six states with annual revenues of $18M. El also pioneered its health insurance product, effectively convincing 6 states to accept and approve a unique payment methodology which incorporates a health insurance product for ancillary clinical services.
El serves as a Member of the Board for PrevMED, Advanced PICC Services, a company that provides onsite blood transfusion services to residents residing in skilled nursing facilities, and Senior Insurance Solutions, an insurance brokerage firm providing insurance products to seniors.
El holds a BS in Environmental Sciences and Economics from Hobart College.
Christopher L. Miller, Chief Technology Officer
Christopher is a project management executive having led several organizations to develop, bring to market, and sell technology products, with clients ranging from startups to Major League Baseball franchises. He led the development and delivery of one of the first SaaS-based EHRs for LTPAC, with Millennium Pharmacy Systems (acquired by Pharmerica), growing the company to the third-largest LTC institutional pharmacy in just four years. With GE Healthcare, he was Program Manager for two medical device product lines, centered on Digital Pathology. [read more]
He has authored several books and published technical articles on various topics and was a finalist for Best Product Development or Engineering Executive in the 2003 Stevie Awards. A regular healthcare technology conference speaker, he also returns to Carnegie Mellon University to guest lecture.
At Real Time, Chris brings his twenty years of SNF/ALF industry experience to enable us to deliver robust and advanced analytics that stay ahead of the curve.
He holds a Masters in IT management (MSIT) from Carnegie Mellon, BS in Business from Pensacola Christian College, and is a graduate of the CMU CIO Institute.
Phyllis Wojtusik, Executive VP
Phyllis has thirty-five years of health care experience in acute care, ambulatory care, and post-acute care. She has led development of post-acute networks, participated in the Medicare Shared Savings Program and other value-based contract programs. She has also served in physician practice management roles. [read more]
Prior to joining Real Time Medical Systems, Phyllis led the development of a preferred provider SNF network for PENN Medicine Lancaster General Health. In this network she developed and implemented strategies that reduced total cost of care and readmissions while improving patient outcomes. She utilized system approaches, clinical standards and care management tactics to improve coordination and transition of care while reducing post-acute length of stay in a network of non-owned SNFs.
Phyllis also has experience in the physician practice worked for more than 15 years in a leadership role for a large successful geriatric practice. The practice expanded from two physician providers to more than 30 physicians and CRNPs under her leadership. She also led the development and coordination of a Geriatric Assessment program that focused on dementia diagnosis, treatment and management.
Phyllis’ clinical background includes spending 12 years in critical care as a nurse, nurse manager, and case manager. Phyllis speaks nationally and regionally on transitions of care, care coordination, and post-acute network development and management. Phyllis graduated from Lancaster General School of Nursing and Franklin and Marshal College with degrees in nursing and science.
Shane Dearing, Executive VP Business Development
Shane brings over a 10+ years of experience as a business development and sales executive within healthcare. Drawing upon his extensive background in government relations, healthcare policy, and business development, Shane strives to find innovative and value-driven strategies to bridge the gap between post-acute and acute care organizations. Prior to joining Real Time, Shane served as Vice President of Sales with Medline Industries, where he was responsible for portfolio management and revenue generation within the national post-acute market. By identifying key partnerships and business development channels, he established a strong track record of expanding market share, improving profitability, and driving revenue growth.
Shane studied law at the University of Dayton Law School and political science at the University of Southern Indiana.
Jim Shearon, RN, BSN, MHSA, VP Clinical Solutions
Jim is a seasoned expert in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, quality improvement, HIT, and guideline-based care in the long-term care industry. At AccuNurse by Honeywell, Jim perfected process improvement models and helped a wide variety of clients drive new levels of quality and cost savings through voice-directed documentation. As a case-mix specialist at HCR ManorCare, Jim audited Medicare and Medicaid documentation and assisted nursing facilities in completing MDS 2.0 documentation. As an RNAC, Jim implemented, educated, coached, validated, and monitored the RAI Process. He was also responsible for MDS, management of Medicare, PPS, and Medicaid to ensure all documentation met federal, state, and certification guidelines. [read more]
Laurie Obitz, VP Operations
As an experienced healthcare IT leader, Laurie oversees Real Time’s implementations, customer account management, and sales support. She is responsible for developing and growing operational processes, along with client reporting. Laurie’s roots are in project management and system analysis with a passion for leveraging technology to improve clinical workflow and outcomes. She uses a team-based approach to management and customer service. [read more]
Prior to joining Real Time, Laurie served as the Director of Clinical Information Systems at Mid-Atlantic Healthcare responsible for all clinical applications and support. Laurie successfully led Mid-Atlantic through a skilled nursing EMR selection, implementation, and data migration to expand and consolidate clinical and financial systems. Prior to her time at Mid-Atlantic, Laurie directed multiple teams at Mercy Health Services with a focus on enterprise projects, clinical transformation, and interface optimization in the health system setting. Early in her career, Laurie built her strong technical base at a dot.com start-up, USinternetworking focused on e-commerce, ERP and application hosting sectors.
Laurie earned her Master’s of Science in Information Systems from University of Maryland Baltimore County and her BBA from James Madison University in Finance and Operations Management. She is also a certified project management professional (PMP). Laurie currently serves on the board of multiple non-profit organizations serving athletes in her local community and students in Tanzania, Africa.
